MEET THE WELCOME WAGON

Welcome everyone! Come meet some of your favorite National City locals and Stein Farm residents.

MEET DURANGO

DURANGO is a Sicilian Miniature Donkey from Italy. He's definitely the star of the Farm and let's all his fans know it! His rugged good looks and charming braying ("hee-haw") will have you eating out of his hooves--actually, he'll be eating out of yours if you have treats!

MEET CHIP AND OREO

Double the trouble and double the fun! CHIP (brown and white) and OREO (black and white) are African Nigerian Dwarf Diary Goats. They love saying hello to people and frollicking around the Farm. But you'll have to keep an eye on these two because they like to get into double the mischief.

MEET BLANCA

BLANCA is one of the many varieties of chickens we have at the Stein Farm. She is a White Leghorn and lays beautiful large white eggs. Although Leghorns may be associated with the classic iconic look of an American farm chicken, they are originally from central Italy!

MEET LUCY, ETHEL, and BOBI

Emus are quickly becoming a popular mainstay on farm preserves across the United States. They are the second tallest bird next to the ostrich and when you visit LUCY, ETHEL, and BOBI (pronounced BOH-bee) you will definitely know! Our emus are very curious birds and love to watch their human friends. But keep a close eye on them. Despite how big they are they're very quick and nimble!

MEET LUCY

LUCY is one of the many varieties of chickens on the Stein Farm. She is a Red Polish Chicken and they known for their wild personality and head feathers to match. With that in mind, she was appropriately named after Lucille Ball from "I Love Lucy" fame.

MEET ROSEY and WILLA

These two starlets will steal your heart-- and your treats, if you have any! ROSY (red) and WILLA (black) are both New Zealand Kunekune Pigs. They are docile and friendly by nature. Supposedly "miniature" or "teacup" Kunekunes have recently become popular urban house pets. But fair warning-- there is no such thing as a "mini" Kunekune. Once you see our pigs, you will realize how big they can get! They are large in size and large in love.

MEET GOLDIE and BERTHA

The Stein Family Farm has a wide variety of chickens. Shown here are GOLDIE (brown), a Buff Orphington Chicken, and BERTHA (black and white), a Barred Rock Chicken. Buff Orphingtons are beautiful plump and stately birds and the hens are known to lay large brown eggs. Barred Rocks are known to be the "workers" of the flock and are one of the oldest breeds in America. Barred Rock hens are known to lay light brown medium eggs.

MEET RAMONA

She is a "Hair lamb" They originated in Africa and were taken to Spain by the Spaniards. They had hair instead of wool so were almost extinct. Currently there are several types of hair sheep which are breed for meat not wool.

MEET BUN-BUN

Rabbits require lots of attention and care so of course Bun-Bun is a visitor favorite. Believed to be of the Holland Lop breed of rabbits, Bun-Bun doesn't have the typical floppy ears. Nevertheless, like most rabbits Bun is very active and always on alert.

It is good for young kids to come and see the animals, and high school students can get service hours! Most of the animals are docile, and the historical house has an awesome history.
